AGA Perspectives Features Elastography Debate

May 18, 2016

Drs. Stuart Gordon and Keyur Patel present an overview of elastography technology for HCV patients.

The new, April/May issue of AGA Perspectives is now available online, featuring a debate about elastography technology for testing liver stiffness in HCV patients. Other articles in the latest magazine edition cover a broad range of GI-focused topics, including chronic cough, the microbiome and health maintenance measures for IBD patients.

In the featured articles, Stuart Gordon, MD, advocates for the growing adoption of the technology, while Keyur Patel, MD, points to the potential drawbacks that relying on the technology could have compared to other diagnostic methods, such as liver biopsy.

This issue provides a number of articles on the future generations of GIs. Siddharth Singh, MD, and Renumathy Dhanasekaran, MD, provide readers an inside look at the AGA Young Delegates program, Brijen Shah, MD, discusses the importance of health policy in medical education, and Shounak Majumder, MBBS, MD, provides the perspective of an international trainee in the U.S.
