Just Released: 2016 Excluded Drugs Lists

Take a look at the GI-related drugs included in next year's lists of excluded or limited medications from two pharmacy benefit managers.

Express Scripts and CVS Caremark, the two largest pharmacy benefit managers, recently released their lists of medications that will be excluded from insurance coverage in 2016. 

The Express Scripts list of excluded drugs includes the following GI-related drugs:

  • Anti-inflammatory/anti-ulcer agents: Vimovo and Duexis.
  • Inflammatory bowel agents: Asacol HD, Delzicol and Dipentum.
  • Pancreatic enzymes: Pancreaze, Pertzye and Ultresa.
  • HCV treatments: Harvoni, Olysio and Sovaldi. 

CVS Caremark’s list of GI-related drugs excludes:

  • HCV treatements: excludes Viekira Pak, prefers Harvoni and doesn't mention Sovaldi
  • IBS agents: Amitiza.
  • Opioid-induced constipation agents: Relistor.
  • PPIs: Prevacid and Protoni.
